songs of the month - June 2017

It’s hot, it’s summer - it’s time for party! Well, I’m not really a party type of person, unless we’re talking LAN parties, but anyways. I thought I’d share with you my top something songs of the month. Some of them might even match for a party playlist, but that’s for you to judge. Let me know what kind of music you enjoy listening to - and without further ado, let’s get straight into my list. Why does this sound so much as if I was writing a script for a blog. Just to let you know - I’m not. Also, this is not in any particular order. All of the songs are available on either youtube or spotify, sometimes both. 1 - Absolutely Smitten (Intertwined - EP) - dodie I’ve been listening a lot to dodie this month, and she’s just one of my favourite artists. Dodie yellow is also roundabout my favourite colour, but that’s just on a side note. I really do enjoy the percussion in this song, as well as the melody. It’s just overall one of my favourite songs. It makes me smile, it makes m...

My morning routine as a student - how to: morning productivity

Now that I don’t have regular lessons due to the finals coming up this summer anymore, I managed to extend this morning routine from just the weekends to the entire week. As I do have a lot of free time in the mornings now, I do have a rather complex morning routine, but perhaps it does give you some inspiration for what you could include into your very own morning routine. I usually try to wake up between 8 and 9AM, depending on how much I had to do the evening before. The first thing I do each morning is to have a glass of sparkling water. I know not many people like sparkling water, but I find it a little more refreshing than still water. Anyway, drinking something always boosts my metabolism and instantly makes me feel more awake. I get up, block the bathroom for about half an hour, get dressed and then have a morning workout. Sometimes, that’s just a couple of sit-ups, planks and some uncoordinated, but exhausting, dancing, on other days I like to go for a run or even to th...

My evening routine as a student - how I get enough sleep

It’s always a great thing to go to bed early, spend just a couple of minutes on social media and then fall asleep, waking up feeling amazing the next morning. It’s really a sad thing that never happens. Those five minutes on facebook, and those on tumblr, and those on twitter suddenly add up to five hours in total and result in about three hours of sleep that night. I had that phase a couple of years ago where I would just spend hours and hours talking to my friends overseas. Different time zones are really a great thing. By now I noticed that that’s not the road to success and over time I changed my time management to the point where I actually developed something like an evening routine . Since I have to wake up around 6:30am, I usually try to be in bed by 10pm. What I would consider my evening routine takes place between about 8pm and 10:30pm. To me, that’s the time to relax and end the day in a nice way. I generally try to be done with all school related things by 8pm,...

How to become a morning person

On your road to being more productive it might have come to your mind that being a morning person does have quite some positive impact on your studying routine. Not only do you not spend almost the entire weekend sleeping but also are you more awake and alert during the first lessons of your school day. So let’s become morning people, shall we? The key to waking up early is a consistent sleep cycle. Going to bed early each and every day will create a habit out of waking up early as well. Falling asleep can be quite difficult at times, but keeping your sleep cycle as consistent as possible is important. If you have difficulties falling asleep earlier than usual, try creating an evening routine that makes it easier for you to get into a more sleepy mood. Banning all electronics from your bed and having hot chocolate or a soothing bath in the evening time are just some of the many things that you might want to include. However, keep in mind that you should definitely stretch out ...

birthday surprise for my boyfriend

Hello lovely people of the internet! This post exists because I have to say a couple of things about a video over on my youtube channel which didn't really fit into the making-of-post (which you can read here if you'd like). So go and enjoy the video! I know, timing isn't perfect and I think you need to stop the video at times to really read what it's saying, but Windows Movie Maker was glitching a bit.. Apologies. Also, it cut off the end of the song for some reason - I still don’t know why. However, this is my first attempt of working with WMM, and I think it worked out better than it possibly could have. Since it's not always easy to read what I wrote (excuse the low resolution of my camera and my sloppy hand-writing), I'll just put all the 101 things here again: I love... #1 ...your smile #2 ...your kisses #3 ...your touch #4 ...your ability to always make me feel better #5 ...how caring you are #6 ...your scent #7...

Making Of: Birthday Surprise For My Boyfriend

Image
First of all - a massive THANK YOU for more than 100,000 views, over 450 thumbs up and more than 140 subscribers! You people are awesome ! Birthday Surprise For My Boyfriend - How to create a video Since there seems to be quite an interest in how I made the video and what items I used to get this result, here's some sort of tutorial if you wanted to make the exact same thing. I hope you enjoy it. If anything's missing, tell me in the comments below and I'll add any additional information that is requested. If you don't know what video I'm talking about, this is it:  (or click here  to watch it on YouTube) If you want to make the exact same thing as I did, you'll need: a sketch block (you can buy the one I used here ) a black sharpie or felt pen (I used a felt pen by herlitz and a black stabilo point 88 fine 0.4 but it really doesn't make much of a difference which ones you use) a lot of glittery decoration like stars, co...

Kat vs DOING SPORTS

I don't know why, but 2016 somehow became a year of fitness so far. I've never seen so many advertisements for gyms, so many diet plans, so many people who share their workout tips and tricks on the internet. Wherever I go, people hand out papers to get others to join gym clubs. What is wrong with this year? I hate doing sports. I really do. I don't even know what that should be good for. I'm already walking the way to the next bus station, the next supermarket and I'm taking the stairs. Why on earth should I spend money on going to the gym? Yeah, right, my health. We only have one body, and the better our body is, the longer we live. Skinnier people aparently have better chances in everything, are prettier and whatever. I feel like everyone around me just wants to have the perfect body, even though there's no such thing as perfect. Shouldn't we just be happy the way we are? It's a question of confidence, but also a question of happiness. I don...
